    Slacker

So apologises for being such a slacker, I really have not done much with this wee site for way to long. After the last update on site after the lucerne world cup it all got just a bit to full on with training and trying to get things right for worlds so the blog was kinda the first thing to go out the window. The plan is try and do a weekly update of how things are progressing. I can't give away to many trade secrets of course and for the most part things are going to be pretty boring but if there is anything happening I will try and post it here.
    Adelaide 038
This picture is from Munich after the final, (the blue and white ribbon is the silver medal). Wouldn't say things went completely to plan, that is we didn't win, but there aspects of the race the were encouraging enough for me not to consider the centre podium at the Olympics completely out of sight. George ended up missing the medal ceremony after being carted off post-race by over-zealous medical staff, while he wasn't in very good shape, he certainly wasn't going to curl over and those are the moments we do this sport for. With the value of hindsight, next time thats happens, which hopefully it won't, they can drag me or George off AFTER the medal ceremony (assuming we make touch wood)
So now I am back in NZ, we got a month off pretty much, though I did the Waikato Great Race the weekend I got back, we won though it was a hell of a hard effort my heart rates got even higher than the World Champs final this year.

I've been back training with the nz summer squad for about 5 weeks now, the weather initially was pretty bad making life slightly miserable, fortunately we didn't have to get straight back out on the water, we started off with only a couple of rows a week with a fair bit of cycling and a little running and some tin lifting thrown in. The rowing is definately on the increase now though, mixing it up in the pair and jumping in the quad with the Matt Trott and Nathan Cohen.

    TA regatta nov07
The Te Awamutu 2000 metre regatta was our first racing outing for the domestic season, we've swapped the seating round as a bit of a training thing and amazingly I didn't get pulled all over the course, we got the win under our belts in the end though Eric and Carl from the mens four gave us a hurry up, Eric had swapped sides though so not reading to much into that one. I had to rush off after that to have a wee chat at a sports medicine conference in town. NZ Rowing was doing a presentation and I was the athletes point of view, though as per usual I forgot half the important points but at least I got a few laughs.
So thats about it, hopefully will have another update next week. As Andrew Matheson pointed out on Friday last week there are only 9 months to go till we are racing in Beijing, well even less now.
